The guy behind the books

D.J. DAWSON

Husband. Father of Five. Storyteller.

I'm D.J. Dawson, a husband and father of five based out of central Florida. My kids span a broad range of ages, so I'm especially tuned in to what my family reads. That awareness is exactly what fuels these stories.

I'm a Christian. My stories don't center on Christianity, but themes of right and wrong and good versus evil run through everything I write. My characters aren't squeaky clean. They're real, flawed, and don't always make the right choices. But they learn and grow, and I never blur the line between good and evil.

Why I write.

“Those books lit something in me that never went out.”

I grew up on books like The Hardy Boys. Stories where kids were brave, mysteries had real stakes, and you could root for the heroes without reservation. Those books lit something in me that never went out.

A lot of the fiction I come across online leans dark. That's not my style. Writing characters who choose courage over cruelty is something I take seriously, and I work hard to make those choices feel earned.

So that's why I write: because these characters and stories live in my head and I need to get them out. When someone tells me a character stayed with them long after they finished reading, that's the whole reward.

The Clean Pledge

Nothing you'll regret handing over.

Every book I publish is written to be clean: no profanity, no sexual content, nothing you'd need to pre-read. Real stakes, real danger, real courage, but nothing I wouldn't share with my own kids.

If you ever feel something crosses the line, tell me. Keeping that promise matters more to me than any single scene.

Ways to be part of this

Be part of it.

Spread the word

The highest praise you can give me is handing a book to someone you think would love it. Independent authors live on word of mouth.

Read early

Beta readers get the book chapter by chapter and help shape the final version with their notes. That's the feedback I need most.

Keep me honest

Read the stories and tell me what works and what doesn't. Your feedback shapes what I write next.
