Terms of service.

1. Agreement

By using Dauntless Books, you agree to these Terms. If you don't, please don't use the service. We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced to registered users before they take effect.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 to hold an account on Dauntless Books. Some content includes mature themes (action, peril, references to danger), and younger readers should use the site with a parent or guardian's awareness.

3. Your account

When you register, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information.
• Keep your password confidential and your account secure.
• Take responsibility for activity under your account.
• Tell us if you suspect unauthorized access.

You can't impersonate someone else or transfer your account to another person.

4. Content rights

The author keeps their copyright

D.J. Dawson retains all rights to the works published here. Reading access on this site is granted according to each chapter's visibility setting and may change over time (for example, once a book is published for sale).

What you can do

Read what's available to you, and leave notes and feedback.

What you can't do

Copy, redistribute, or republish chapters elsewhere. Use scraping tools or bots. Mirror content to other platforms. Anything beyond personal reading needs explicit written permission from the author.

5. Conduct

You agree not to:

• Share account credentials.
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute content without permission.
• Use bots or automated systems to access the service.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or other accounts.
• Upload malicious content or interfere with the service.
• Harass or abuse the author or other readers.
• Use the service for any illegal purpose.

6. Notes & moderation

Notes you leave may be visible to the author and other readers. We reserve the right to remove notes that violate these Terms — spam, harassment, illegal content, infringing material, doxxing, hate speech — and to close accounts that repeatedly cross the line.

7. As-is

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep it running and the content reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted operation, freedom from error, or that everything will be perfect on a given Tuesday.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dauntless Books is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages including lost profits, lost data, service interruptions, or third-party actions. Total liability under these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim, or $100 — whichever is greater.

9. Termination

You can ask us to delete your account at any time — just leave us a note. We may close accounts for violations of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or other reasons we judge appropriate; we'll generally try to give notice. On termination, your access ends. Provisions that should survive (intellectual-property terms, disclaimers, limitation of liability) survive.

10. Disputes

These Terms are governed by United States law. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us first and try to resolve things informally. Unresolved disputes go to binding arbitration, except that small-claims-court eligible disputes may proceed there. You waive participation in class actions or class-wide arbitration.

11. Miscellaneous

These Terms together with the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us regarding the service. If a provision turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a right one time isn't a waiver of it. You can't assign these Terms; we can.
